Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 18, 2026
Last Updated: May 18, 2026
Welcome to PDF Scanner - File Reader. We believe that transparency is the foundation of trust. Most privacy policies are written in confusing legalese, but we want to clearly explain how our lightning-fast QR scanner and comprehensive QR code generator interact with your data.
Our core philosophy is "Local-First". We engineer our application to process as much information as possible directly on your device, minimizing the data that ever leaves your hands. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, why we need it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over your personal data.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
To provide you with our core features, we require access to certain device capabilities. We only request these permissions when absolutely necessary:
·Camera Access:
Why we need it: To enable our "Document Scanner" feature, allowing you to capture physical documents, receipts, or notes and convert them directly into PDF files.
How we handle it: The camera feed is processed locally on your device using on-device machine learning and vision frameworks to detect document edges and enhance image quality. We do not record video, take secret photos, or transmit your camera feed to our servers.
·Photo Library / Files Access:
Why we need it: To allow you to import existing images or documents from your gallery and system storage for PDF conversion, editing, merging, or signing.
How we handle it: We only access the specific files or photos you manually select. The rendering and conversion are analyzed locally. We do not scan your entire library or device storage in the background, nor do we upload your personal files to the cloud without your explicit command.
·Automatically Collected Usage Data:
To ensure the app runs smoothly, we may collect anonymous, aggregated diagnostic data. This includes crash reports, device models, operating system versions, and app launch times. This data is strictly de-identified and used solely for bug fixing, performance optimization, and preventing application instability during heavy document processing.
2. Local Storage and Data Retention
We empower you to manage your own data footprint.
Document Processing: Your files, edited PDFs, scanned documents, and signature templates are saved directly within the app’s secure local container or your device's native file system (such as iOS CoreData or local sandbox). It acts as your personal, offline document manager.
Data Deletion: Because this data lives on your device, you have complete control. You can delete individual documents, clear your processing cache, or remove saved signatures within the app settings at any time. If you uninstall the app, this local data is permanently deleted.
3. Third-Party Services and Advertising
To support the ongoing development and maintenance of our app, we may integrate selected third-party services:
Advertising Networks (e.g., Google AdMob): We may partner with third-party ad networks to display advertisements. These networks may utilize mobile advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA) to serve ads that are relevant to you. You maintain full control over this via your iOS system settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). If you opt out of tracking, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests.
Analytics Providers: We may use tools to understand how users interact with our app (e.g., which QR code templates are most popular) to guide future updates. This data is aggregated and contains no personally identifiable information (PII).
4. Your Global Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on your region, you are granted specific rights regarding your data. Even though we collect minimal to no personal data on our servers, we respect these rights globally:
Right to Access & Portability: You can request to know what data we hold about you. (Note: For local document history and files, you already have full access within the app or your device's Files app).
Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can request the deletion of your data.
Right to Opt-Out of Data Sales: We do not sell your personal data. If third-party ad networks are used, your iOS settings govern the sharing of your advertising ID.
5. Data Security
While no digital system is 100% secure, we implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information. By utilizing Apple's native security frameworks and keeping the majority of document rendering and text recognition (OCR) strictly on-device, we drastically reduce the risk of data breaches.
6. Children's Privacy
Our application is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take immediate steps to delete it.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
As we add new features, we may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document or via a prominent in-app notification.
